Donkmonic Divergence

For all the famed Three Musketeerisms of successful candidacies and political movements on the way up, it is only on the way back down that the mutual self-interest that really guided its co-participants all along reasserts and reveals itself.  It's why Democrat Teanami survivors are belatedly in no hurry to rubber stamp the current leadership whose delusionalism led to the debacle of November 2nd, and why their would-be Minority Leader maintains her amazingly steadfast denial of any and all culpability for it:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she has the “overwhelming support” of fellow Democrats in her bid to become minority leader in the next Congress, and says she’s not to blame for the Democrats’ mid-term debacle.

“We didn’t lose the election because of me,” Mrs. Pelosi told National Public Radio in an interview that aired Friday morning. “Our members do not accept that.”

Instead, the California Democrat attributes the loss of at least sixty seats to high unemployment and “$100 million of outside, unidentified funding.”

“Any party that cannot turn (9.5% unemployment) into political gains should hang up the gloves,” she said.

"Our members do not accept that"?  Hey, I'll grant that dementia isn't a malady limited only to Typhoid Nancy in the Democrat Party - Hogzilla and ObamaCare DID pass the House on the sole strength of Donk votes bilked by promises of political Nirvana - but that claim sounds a lot more like something she wants to be true than it is a certified fact.

It also moves me further down the path towards a new icon for this battleax....

Meanwhile, the number of Drones who are deciding that resistance is NOT futile continues to grow - and they continue to [ahem] organize:

Two new fronts opened up in the intraparty battle over House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Thursday, as Blue Dog Democrats trained their sights on the California Democrat’s power to appoint allies to influential party posts.

Representative Dan Boren (D-OK2) told POLITICO he wants the Democratic Caucus to vote on new rules that would strip the party leader of her de facto power to appoint the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and her top lieutenants on the Steering and Policy Committee, which hands out legislative committee assignments and makes recommendations on other important party matters.

Boren was joined in the call for new rules governing the election of the DCCC chairman by Representative Larry Kissell (D-NC8). Both are avowed foes of Pelosi’s bid to become minority leader after Democrats lost at least sixty seats and control of the House in last week’s mid-term election.

What can they say?  For eight years it was in their their personal political interest to allow themselves to be steamrolled by this broken down dictatrix.  Now it isn't any longer.  Nor is it in their caucus's interest either, as is dawning on a burgeoning proportion of them.  Yet Crazy Nancy refuses to get out of the way.  A most...ironic manifestation of Pelosi's Revenge.

And it isn't limited to the House side of the Capitol.  No, my friends, The Liberal Crackup has gone pandemic:

For our purposes here I don't think it matters much which Donk Senate committee chairs are sotto voce-ing this gaping vote of no confidence in The One's putative "leadership," because what it manifests is precisely the dynamic unfolding in the House leadership struggle: As long as Barack Obama was punching their meal tickets to permanent political dominance, they and ALL Dems were happy as Adam Richman in a meat locker to bow the knee, burn the incense, roll out the prayer rugs, and dance like nuts around his golden statue.  They didn't drink the Kool-Aid, they chugged it.  He flicked their partisan frenulums until their eyes rolled back in their heads.

But now they've discovered firsthand that (1) there was a cost and (2) it's a helluva lot steeper then they ever would have imagined.  Suddenly self-preservation has moved back to the front burner, and they're looking ahead to what now looks like a sheer cliff in 2012.

I don't know that these are proverbial long knives like those being unsheathed against Granny Stoneface - at least, not yet.  It might be a horrified plea for Lucifer to swallow enough of his immense pride to start listening to them (natch) before he Hooverizes the Democrat Party indefinitely.  In which case they have so much of the journey left to realize the full, unnuanced, terrifying depth of Proverbs 16:18, and the vast wilderness lying beyond.

Exit quote from the Borg Queen: "We don’t let the Republicans choose our leaders and again, our members understand, they made me a target because I’m effective, politically and policy-wise."  Because, of course, the GOP just HAS to be behind any effort to depose The Face Of The Death Wave.
