Resistance Is Futile

All of this kind of reminds me of the much balleyhood Borg civil war.  Yes, it freed a tiny fraction of drones, and yes, it gave the Queen some headaches, but then, like every other story arc idea Voyager ever had, it faded away into irrelevance, and when the Borg were next revisited, it was like it never even happened:

The Congressional Black Caucus has decided to withhold its approval for the House Democratic leadership team, denying Speaker Nancy Pelosi full support of the forty-two-member organization as she campaigns to remain leader.

After a nearly two hour long meeting on Monday night, chairwoman Barbara Lee of California said the group only will endorse caucus member James Clyburn of South Carolina for a leadership position. The causus first wants to know what his role will be in the Democratic leadership before backing the full slate.

We fully support our current Whip, Mr. Clyburn, for the number three position and we are currently reserving judgment on the entire package until we see what the actual portfolio entails, in terms of responsibilities,” Lee said.

Remember a few days ago when I noted how Clyburn went from growling at Steny Hoyer to "get away from my bone!" regarding his whip post to lapdoggedly licking Crazy Nancy's feet on this figurehead "assistant leader without portfolio" wholecloth invention?  That foot-licking line is now forty-two supplicants long.  The CBC should be blasting Clyburn for meekly stepping & fetching this backhanding humiliation and the White witch for sticking him with it - if consistency and baseline integrity meant anything to them, anyway - but no, they've got far too much of their overweening pride and conceit invested in the Democrat Party to risk displaying any genuine independence.  At most, this is a crumbs and table scraps begging expedition; more likely, it's a "Please, Mistress Pelosi, don't punish us, we're sorry, we won't do it again" full-bore linear group prostrate.

But, of course, it's Republicans who are the "racists".

However, another factor could be that, as decimated as the House Donk caucus is, the CBC still doesn't have enough votes to take San Fran Nan down as leader if they forced a showdown.   And if they can't do it, the scattered survivors of the Great Azure Canicide of 2010 are definitely yapping up the wrong tree:

Disgruntled Democrats finally had a chance to confront Speaker Nancy Pelosi face to face for the first time during a raucous closed-door caucus meeting Tuesday, as defeated Representative Allen Boyd called her “the face of our defeat.”

His comments were made shortly after Pelosi told Democrats she was targeted in races around the country because she is an effective leader for them. The Democratic gathering was the first gathering of the caucus since the party lost control of the House.

“There is great angst and frustration,” one moderate Democrat told POLITICO. The lawmaker said Pelosi would do well to “support and embrace some of the suggestions” from disaffected Democrats who want to change certain caucus rules to allow more input from rank and file on top party posts…

Pelosi, described as “nervous” by one source in the room Tuesday, is now trying to tamp down an incipient rebellion from lawmakers who believe she should not win election to the post of minority leader on Wednesday.

Sorry, gents, but the time for you casualties to have done something about Granny was sometime, ANY time in the preceding four years, at minimum, when you twice unanimously proclaimed her your fearless leader.  Or how 'bout when you let her bulldoze enough of you to put ObamaCare over the top?  Tell her to go to hell then and crush that malignant legislative tumor and perhaps a few more of you would have survived the mass culling.  It's not like your constituents didn't give you lots and lots of REALLY BIG HINTS of what would happen if you accordianed to that crazy old cunt instead of listening to the people who elected you.  You chose to stop up your ears, shut down your brain, and swill the Kool Aid, and she got what she wanted - at your expense.  Yeah, she was the "face of your defeat," but you were its arms, legs, torso, and, um, "junk".

But, you see, this is what Henry Waxman was talking about.  The Democrat majority was build not upon uberleftists like Queen Botox, but the huge, baying pack of blue dogs Rahm Emanuel swindled swing voters into buying as "conservative Democrats" in 2006 and 2008.  Now that they've been demolished, all that's left once again is that Obamunist True Believer core.  And the chances of those zombified drones deposing her infernal majesty are not measurable.

Which is why her "nervousness" is a function of her mental derangement.  Having had her rock-solid faith in her late majority's re-election shattered, she's clinging all the more bitterly to what power base she has left - which, ironically, that crushing defeat made a lot easier.

Exit question: Leaving aside the ever-present possibility of GOP screw ups, is there any reason to think that this de facto hostage situation won't go on for years to come?
