Lame Duck Quacks On
The battle against Harry Reid's runaway "lame duck" session isn't over yet.
The good news is, Harry Reid abandoned his pork-filled Trillion Dollar budget Thursday night after outraged citizens protested his plot to ram nearly 2,000 pages of big spending through the Senate with minimal debate.
But the "lame duck" Congress drags on this morning, and Senate Majority Leader Reid intends to push through as many bills as he can before adjourning for the year.
The union bosses are still demanding the Police and Firefighter Monopoly Bargaining Bill (S. 3991) as part of that agenda, and Harry Reid is itching to pay back his union-boss financiers.
As of this writing, Reid has yet to schedule another vote to cut off debate on S. 3991, but the union chiefs are still "working to resurrect" the dangerous legislation.
Big Labor's top targets include Republicans Scott Brown of Massachusetts, Judd Gregg of New Hampshire, Mike Johanns of Nebraska, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, and Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine, who each supported earlier versions of S. 3991 but objected to Reid proceeding to the bill before finishing on tax cuts and funding the government.
With the tax bill passed and an apparent deal on a short-term continuing resolution to fund the government, the threat of the Police and Firefighter Monopoly Bargaining Bill looms as great as ever.
That's why the National Right to Work Committee will remain on high alert throughout the weekend and into next week or however long Harry Reid prolongs the "lame duck" session.
Your action has been absolutely vital in stalling the Police and Firefighter Monopoly Bargaining Bill time and again in the 111th Congress.
As long as the 111th Congress sticks around, we promise to let you know if Harry Reid tries to force another vote on S. 3991.
Thank you again for doing everything you can in this crucial battle. Stay tuned.
Sincerely,
Mark Mix
