Governor Walker To Cave On Forced Union Dues

The union bosses and their absentee Democrat allies in the Wisconsin State Senate are demanding that Governor Scott Walker cave on his proposal to rein in the power of the government-sector union hierarchy over Wisconsin taxpayers.

Now reports from Madison reveal that both sides are "negotiating" behind closed doors, and I'm disturbed about some of what I'm hearing.

Governor Walker reportedly told the Associated Press that he will not agree to any so-called compromise on the parts of his proposal curbing government-sector unions' monopoly bargaining powers that drive up the cost of government.

While Governor Walker's vowed commitment to fiscal responsibility is noble, I'm afraid his statement opens the door to selling out workers who want nothing to do with a union but are forced to pay dues.

Of course, union bosses care first and foremost about collecting union dues and "fees" to build the warchests they use to elect union-label politicians.

Workers, taxpayers and recipients of government services (students, for example) are not Big Labor's real concern.

As currently written, the legislation would give most government employees the Right to Work without having to pay tribute to a labor union.

Anyone that wanted to support a union still could. Anyone that didn't want to wouldn't have to.

The union chiefs are desperate to eliminate that part of the bill so they may continue forcing government workers to pay union dues or "fees" as a condition of employment.

That's why, if you haven't already, I hope you will join the 70,000+ who have signed the petition urging Governor Walker to refuse to give in to Big Labor.

If you have already signed the petition, please help us reach 100,000 signatures by forwarding this to friends, family, and other like-minded citizens.

Poll after poll shows that 80 percent of the American people agree with the Right to Work principle, but Big Labor will do anything to protect its ability to seize dues from independent-minded workers.

That's why it's absolutely vital Governor Walker hears from grassroots citizens like you urging him to stand strong against Big Labor.

In this battle against excessive union boss power over taxpayers and the state budget, Governor Walker can win -- but not by selling out on the basic freedom for workers to refrain from supporting unwanted unions.

Please, click here to sign the petition urging Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker to stand firm on eliminating forced union dues for most state employees.

Sincerely,

Mark Mix
