Stand w/ Speaker Boehner & Support School Vouchers

Washington politicians, including President Obama, send their children to some of the finest private schools in America.
Meanwhile, despite sky-high spending...our public school system is failing. Teachers’ unions and other defenders of the status quo have repeatedly stood in the way of accountability and reform in our schools. As a result, American schools now rank 35th in the world in math and literacy.
It's outrageous and it's devastating. But the solution is clear: while we work to reform our public schools, we must give parents the choice to send their children to the best schools possible. What's good enough for the children of Washington politicians should be good enough for other students, too.
Thankfully, U.S. House Speaker John Boehner stands on the side of parents and families. The Speaker has personally introduced legislation to restore and expand the Opportunity Scholarship Program, a school voucher program in Washington, D.C. He is sending a powerful message to the nation that the needs of parents and children - especially those who are trapped in failing public schools - should always come before the needs of education special interest groups.
We anticipate that the House will vote on Speaker Boehner's education reform legislation within the next week. Will you take just two minutes today, stand with Speaker Boehner, and use our online form to encourage your Member of Congress to vote YES? Research shows that e-mails to Members of Congress are extremely effective--and your voice matters.

President Obama, the teachers’ unions, and some Members of Congress have tried for two years to eliminate the highly successful Opportunity Scholarship Program for purely political reasons.
They've almost succeeded. I work with many of the parents who are being denied the opportunity to send their children to better schools--and the president's actions have been devastating. But we're not giving up.
With our voices and with the support of the Speaker of the House, we can protect school vouchers in our nation's capitol and send a clear message to lawmakers across the country: every option should be on the table to help children get a quality education.

Every 26 seconds, a child drops out of an American public school...a staggering 1.2 million dropouts every year. In many of our inner-cities, dropout rates are 50 percent. By contrast, students who have used their opportunity scholarships have graduated high school at a rate of 91 percent...more than 30 points higher than students in traditional D.C. public schools. The D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program has generated student academic gain in reading, saves tax dollars, and has produced overwhelming parental satisfaction. This is a cause worth fighting for.
Will you stand with Speaker Boehner and the bipartisan team in Congress and take action today? The educational futures of thousands of children depends on the results of this vote. Click here to take action.
Thank you in advance.
Sincerely yours,
Virginia Walden Ford
