Worse Than the Great Depression?
Barack Obama is given to cute vehicular metaphors about the state of the economy. We were “in a ditch,” then got out and hit a “bump in the road.” This is studiously folksy. It also vastly understates the nature of our situation.
President Obama is presiding over an unspooling social catastrophe in the form of unemployment, and especially long-term unemployment. For all those people who are chronically unemployed, it’s as if they have been hit by the proverbial car and then backed over by it again and again.
Pretty good metaphor there - Obama's policies hitting us like a car and then backing up over us again and again. It's more than just the jobs situation, it's every stinking economic decision he's made. I don't think for one minute that he's concerned about the people who are out of work, facing foreclosure on their homes, enduring the anxiety and depression that goes along with joblessness for many people. I think his eyes are so intent on turning us into the European failure that nothing else matters. I hope the Republicans can zero in on his failures and stop being so afraid of being called racist - because no matter what they do, they're going to be called racist anyway.
