The Limit To Foolishness on Television |
By: Hugh Hewitt |
The atmosphere in the green room at the Sean Hannity Show was amped up. On ordinary days I will banter with Beckel and talk radio shop with Sean as we both tell Levin stories, a friend of both of ours for years.
But Thursday night was tense. Juan Williams and Ann Coulter weren't yucking it up, but were watching the House maneuvers on Boehner 2.0. Once on set Coulter pushed for passage over Hannity's serious objections, and then Juan and Sean went two pretty heated rounds on the issue of where responsibility lay for the unfolding fiasco.

Heritage Action Statement on Boehner Debt Plan |

By: Dan Holler |
In response to the debt plan outlined by House Speaker John Boehner, Heritage Action's CEO Michael A. Needham released the following statement:
"Heritage Action is eager to review the details of the latest plan. As we have said, we are a "no" on raising the debt limit and will remain a "no" unless a proposal drives down federal spending and borrowing while protecting America, rejects tax increases and includes the sort of historic reforms that will save the American dream for our children and grandchildren. Based on preliminary reports, we are skeptical this proposal rises to the occasion."

$307B question for Treasury: Who gets paid first? |
By: Fredreka Schouten |
If Democrats and Republicans in Congress fail to soon resolve their messy showdown over raising the debt limit, the government faces hard choices when it runs out of cash as early as next week. The United States will have about $306.7billion in expenses next month, but is due to take in only $172.4billion in revenue, according to a recent analysis by the non-profit Bipartisan Policy Center.
"It will not even come close to being enough to pay our bills," White House spokesman Jay Carney said Thursday.

Nation's Health Care Bill To Nearly Double By 2020 |
By: Phil Galewitz |
The federal health law, which will expand coverage to 30 million currently uninsured Americans, will have little effect on the nation's rising health spending in the next decade, a government report said today.
The report by the Medicare Office of the Actuary estimated that health spending will grow by an average of 5.8 percent a year through 2020, compared to 5.7 percent without the health overhaul. With that growth, the nation is expected to spend $4.6 trillion on health care in 2020, nearly double the $2.6 trillion spent last year.

Monitor Kids on Facebook Without Being Their 'Friend' |
By: Walter S. Mossberg |
Parents fret all the time about protecting their kids on Facebook, but many of the products and services I've seen that aim to help are intrusive, and inject the parents into the child's normal, healthy online social life in a way that's awkward for both.
You could co-manage your child's account, or "friend" them on the service, which technically has a minimum age of 13. But those are time-consuming and embarrassing practices, especially when the offspring are teenagers, who generally crave some degree of privacy, even if they don't merit full treatment as adults.
