Behold, the reason why the debt ceiling showdown is little more than another of Red Barry's hand-waving distractions:

Markets don't care what half-baked deal gets cooked up inside the Beltway; they're looking at the country's overall fiscal direction.  And they don't like what they see, plain and simple.

You want to change that perception?  Win the 2012 election and get rid of Barack Obama and Donk control of the Senate.  Unless and until that happens, we're screwed.
