Worse Than Christine O'Donnell

At least C'OD's myopic, airheaded conceit stopped at the U.S. Senate; Mary Tyler Less's knows no bounds

So egregiously aggravating has Michelle Bachmann become, even her ostensible campaign guru, Ed Rollins, can't really defend her Gardasil smear of Governor Perry - which has been debunked six ways from Sunday in the space of a few days - and I find myself nodding in sage agreement with....Tingles himself:

Even if Rollins is the Larry Brown of poltical consulting, you really can't blame him for having his fill of Bachmann's bullshit.  Especially since it's so cynically and conveniently new-found:

The HPV vaccination, while called mandatory, made available an opt-out provision so that the parental rights that she felt were so paramount could be protected in this decision. The Hepatitis B vaccination in Minnesota (state law since 1993) doesn't even require parental consent at all. And Hep B's communicability is similar to HPV in that it is primarily transmitted through intercourse, as opposed to being an airborne illness. Currently, no records can be found of Michele Bachmann sponsoring legislation in the Minnesota legislature to repeal the Hep B vaccination or to add a parental opt-out.

Congressman Bachmann served in the Minnesota congress for 5 years. In all that time, she never felt quite as driven by her parental instincts and conservative nature to decry or work to reverse what now she clearly consider to be an incredible breach of conservative values. I wonder what's changed? Were the children of Minnesota not important enough? Is it only robbing a childhood if it's vaccinations that her opponent supported but the one's back home are just fine? Did she lack the same leadership qualities then?

Yes, that question is every bit as rhetorical as it sounds.

An honorable pol - especially one who actually lived the lofty Tea Party principles she's endlessly and piously espousing - would have contritely apologized, or at least made the prudent tactical decision to stop digging the whole in which she's burying herself even deeper.

But not Mary Tyler Less, who is tossing aside her shovel in favor of a backhoe:

"During the debate, I didn't make any statements that would indicate that I'm a doctor, I'm a scientist or that I'm making any conclusions about the drug one way or another," the GOP presidential hopeful told reporters here who questioned her about the story she told suggesting that the vaccine had caused mental retardation. Asked whether she would apologize for comments that outraged medical experts say will discourage parents from getting their children immunized, Bachmann said: "Oh, I'm not going to answer that."...

Talking to reporters here outside a breakfast meeting with Tea Party supporters, the Minnesota congresswoman tried to steer the conversation away from the science and back to Perry.

"I think if you look at the debate, my point was very clear and it's the fact that there was an abuse of power," she said. "And then secondary after that is the idea of crony capitalism."

Inability to admit mistakes, stubborn refusal to take responsibility for her actions, arrogant doubling-down on despicable tactics; sounds like a certain Li'l President we know.  TPers would be well-advised to toss this battleaxe off the train before guilt by association really does render the movement politically toxic.

Or - and you knew this was coming....

....man, I've had it up to my eyeballs with Michelle Bachmann.
