At least SOMEBODY appreciates Dubya's dogged, farsighted efforts (via Newsmax Insider):
The American invasion of Iraq has been condemned by many at home and abroad, but one political observer says Israel owes President George W. Bush an “enormous debt” of gratitude for toppling Saddam Hussein.
Chuck Freilich, a senior fellow at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, writes in the Jerusalem Post, “Bush went to war for reasons almost entirely unrelated to Israel, but in doing so, may have saved us from an apocalypse . . .
“We in Israel owe him an enormous debt.”
Freilich presents two alternative scenarios. In the first, it is summer 2011. A vastly strengthened Hezbollah begins firing rockets at Israel, which counterattacks heavily. Iran announces it has “the bomb,” hinting at Israel’s destruction. Syria concentrates its forces near Israel. The U.S. goes on nuclear alert.
The second, “even worse” scenario, Freilich writes in the Post: “All of the above, but the U.S. never invaded Iraq and it is still presumed to retain a residual WMD capability. Libya never chose, largely in response to Iraq, to dismantle its nuclear program. They too now join the fray.”
And for Israel, that could lead to the “apocalypse” Freilich mentioned.
He added: “Iraq will never be a Jeffersonian democracy, but an Arab one — the only one. The security situation is immeasurably better.”
Won't be for long, though, after Red Barry cuts and runs not just from Iraq, but the Middle East altogether. Indeed, depending upon how hard and fast he tries to bulldoze Israel back to its indefensible pre-1967 frontiers, that 2011 nightmare scenario may be realized quite a bit sooner (remember Vice President-Elect Rogaine's warning.).
Also, by 2011 the United States won't HAVE nuclear weapons anymore - Red Barry will probably have sold them all to the mullahs to get a leg up on raising 2012 campaign cash. But I'm sure Tzipi Livni and Shimon Peres will owe False Messiah such an "enormous debt" for bringing fake "peace" to their denuded country that they'll be forgiving even as its Islamist enemies are dismembering it. All they'll have to do is keep clicking their red shoes together to remain in the Land of Make-Believe - until the Iranians and Syrians invade and overrun that realm as well.

Abandoned carnival becomes public park Posted: 31 Oct 2008 02:09 AM CDT BAGHDAD - Multi-National Division - Baghdad Soldiers turned an abandoned carnival into a public park for families to enjoy. |
So says Michael Yon, who is THERE.
"THE WAR IS OVER AND WE WON:" Michael Yon just phoned from Baghdad, and reports that things are much better than he had expected, and he had expected things to be good. "There's nothing going on. I'm with the 10th Mountain Division, and about half of the guys I'm with haven't fired their weapons on this tour and they've been here eight months. And the place we're at, South Baghdad, used to be one of the worst places in Iraq. And now there's nothing going on. I've been walking my feet off and haven't seen anything. I've been asking Iraqis, 'do you think the violence will kick up again,' but even the Iraqi journalists are sounding optimistic now and they're usually dour." There's a little bit of violence here and there, but nothing that's a threat to the general situation. Plus, not only the Iraqi Army, but even the National Police are well thought of by the populace. Training from U.S. toops has paid off, he says, in building a rapport.
So, why doesn't anybody know it? Well, because our media in this country sucks, that's why. Objective journalism is dead. Partisan journalism is the order of the day, and that is what got us Barack Obama.
He thinks that Obama will be able to pull troops out, and send some to Afghanistan, without creating problems in Iraq. Michael will be reporting from Afghanistan soon, and sending back video, so stay tuned. Things aren't going swimmingly there.
UPDATE: Rand Simberg: "No thanks to the Democrats, including Barack Obama and Joe Biden, who tried to keep it from happening. I see that they still can't bring themselves to utter the word 'win' with respect to the war. They continue to talk about 'ending' it. Well, it looks like George Bush did that for them, and he won it as well."
Yep, George Bush's rock solid determination has won this war. But...GUESS who will take credit for it? And guess who will let them? The Democrats and the press, of course. They're probably preparing the spin right now.
Thanks to our brave military for keeping us safe. And...our apologies for stabbing you in the back in 2006 and now again in 2008.
